Hello! This is the website for The City Lights from Sydney, Australia.
We were active from 2002 -2014. We started as a 4 piece, expanded to a 6 piece, then went back to 4 before ending as a power trio before finally calling it a day. We released one CD single, one CD EP, three CD albums and one farewell 7″ single. All albums and 7″ are still available.
We were once described as “nervy and literate and a lot like this dream I keep having where Elvis Costello fronts The Dirtbombs”.
We played with our heroes like You Am I, Supergrass, The Dirtbombs, The Mess Hall, The Smithereens, The Breeders and Rocket Science and we toured Spain twice. Our debut album was album of the week on radio 4ZZZ (Qld), 3PBS (Vic) and Triple J.
Our final release is a limited edition (300) 7″ single called (She’s Got) My Name and My Number with The Exile Co. on the other side. It was launched at our last sold out gig Friday 21st February 2014 at Lazy Bones Lounge in Marrickville, Sydney, Australia.
